Application
The UTHSC Nashville General Surgery Residency Program uses an electronic application process through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
The following documents must be submitted:
- Dean’s Letter
- Medical school transcript
- Three letters of recommendation
- USMLE transcript
- Personal statement
- Applicants with previous residency experience must submit letters from their previous program director
Completed applications will be reviewed after the Dean’s letter is released, and interviews will be granted on a rolling basis. Those candidates invited for interviews will be notified by email.
Interview Information – 2026
We will receive & review applications in early October, and will send out interview invites beginning in late October. Invites will go out on a rolling basis and interviews will be conducted virtually. Applicants will interview with the General Surgery Program Director and the Associate Program Director, as well as additional one-on-one interviews with faculty members and residents.
2026-2027 Interview Dates:
- Tuesday, November 9, 2026
- Monday, November 23, 2026
- Monday, December 8, 2026
- Wednesday, January 12, 2027
