Leah Banker, MD
I was born and raised in Franklin, Tennessee and attended Father Ryan High School in Nashville. At Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, I earned a B.S. in Nursing. In college, I went on mission trips to Guatemala and Belize, which motivated me to apply to medical school. I attended The University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis. During medical school, I played banjo in the Sawbones Bluegrass Band and enjoyed international medical trips to Mexico, Honduras, and Argentina. At John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, I completed a Family Medicine Residency and Maternal-Child Health Fellowship. I went to Uganda twice during my fellowship to deliver babies at Mulago Hospital in the capital city of Kampala. After residency, I worked in Carthage, Tennessee where my practice included pediatrics, women’s health with operative obstetrics, hospitalist work, and outpatient clinic. My husband and I enjoy hiking in the woods, playing on the beach with our two boys, and experiencing live musical performances.
